About the Author

Steve Grossnickle holds a B.S. degree in Forest Resource Management from Southern Illinois University (1975) and M.Sc. (1978) and Ph.D. (1983) degrees in Physiological Forest Ecology from Colorado State University. Steve was an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto where he taught Silviculture and conducted research on seedling establishment on reforestation sites. He was one of the founding members of the Forest Biotechnology Centre, B.C. Research Inc., where over a 12-year period he was the Associate Director of the Centre as well as the leader of a research program in forest ecophysiology. This program examined components of the forest regeneration process that were related to tree improvement, and seedling development in relation to nursery practices and reforestation operations. Steve is currently the the leader of a nursery integration team with CELLFOR Inc., which is a private company bringing applications of biotechnology to plantation forestry programs throughout the world.
